In an effort to lose weight a lot of people opt for crash dieting but there are a number of pros and cons to it! While some diets work there are some that don’t work as indicated by studies! There is this 5:2 diet where for five days you have to eat normally and then fast for two days in an effort to lose weight the simple way. This diet plan has been supported by a number of celebrities like Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall and Phillip Schofield.
Claims have been made by fans that this 5:2 diet offers protection against Alzheimer’s and dementia, improves brain functioning and lifespan. The pros of this diet, is that it is necessary to stick to this diet just two days in one week. The only con about this diet is that when you don’t diet on the rest of the days, you may tend to consume more than compared to the usual. Also on days when meals are skipped, concentration becomes harder, leading to headaches, irritability and dizziness. Some of the studies also indicate that as compared to losing weight gradually it is more effective to crash diet. Some of diets only cheat and do not work. Some scientists state that to burn fat away, 30 minute ice packs can be used.
However the belief is that to reduce intake of calories, there are simpler ways like, for example, the Dukan diet a high protein and low carb diet. In this diet as long as you follow the diet plan which runs over four phases, you can consume as much as you need. In the first phase a lean protein diet void of veggies and carbs has to taken. In the next phases, all food can be gradually introduced. Though there is quick loss, certain side effects like bad breath, dizziness, tiredness, nausea, insomnia and dry mouth could be experienced in this diet plan.
The other diet plan is Paleo Diet in which seafood, meat, eggs, spices, nuts, herbs, fruits and seeds can be consumed. Salt, wheat, potatoes, refined sugar and dairy has to be avoided. However in this diet, no calorie counting is involved and meat consumption is bigger due to which to substitute other foods, replacements have to be taken.
In the Atkins Diet, a high protein and low carb program for weight loss, proteins in the first phase and carbs, veggies, fruit and exercise in the next phase are introduced! It is possible to lose weight fast but side effects like constipation, dry mouth, nausea, tiredness, insomnia, dizziness, and heart disease risk only increase.
The Alkaline Diet, followed by Jennifer Aniston and Gywneth Paltrow is based on cutting down on alcohol, caffeine, wheat meat which are basically acid producing foods. Due to this, people end up consuming more veggies and fruits which is good and reduces intake of calories. However, supplements are needed due to dairy product cut down.
The WeightWatchers Diet is a diet that controls calories. Each person is given different foods and daily allowance of points is given to the person. Meetings are held each week to provide support. Whatever you like can be eaten provided points stay in limit. The only con about this diet is that working out points, consumes lots of time. If dietary changes are done over a long term, it helps in losing weight successfully!
